Upon the completion of the project, curator and educator, Laura Desmond said; “…it looks AMAZING! I am full of admiration for your vision and expertise and hard work...it all turned out so beautifully.”
In the first half of the 20th century, Sally James Farnham (1869-1943) achieved fame and critical acclaim for her monumental public sculptures and intimate, expressive portraits. But in the second half, she fell into obscurity. Within a small room of the Remington Art Museum sits a retrospective exhibition that reintroduces visitors to a brilliant, charming, and determined artist, helping her regain the recognition she so richly deserves.
Some of these large monumental sculptures are displayed nearly to life-size through a set of murals. In-depth stories of her life and times as an artist and person are expressed in graphic panels with enlarged sections of her work, giving the opportunity for visitors to see the beauty in the details. Many of the panels also house small sculptures that add value to the stories being told. Quotes surround the rooms adding a “voice” to the exhibition.
